Two Final Suspects Arrested In Pullman Assault

All four suspects sought in the assault case of a WSU professor have now been arrested. The two final suspects were arrested Friday morning.

RICHLAND, Wash. – A coalition of groups from southeast Washington is collecting oral histories about the the Hanford Nuclear Reservation and communities around it -- from pioneer days to post-war-cleanup. An announcement was made Tuesday by Washington State University Tri-Cities and 10 other community groups.

The project team intends to collect new interviews, digitize existing ones and make them available online and at the university in a permanent collection.

An investigation by the Pac-12 athletic conference released Tuesday finds no evidence that Washington State University football coaches physically or mentally abused players. WSU's president requested the outside probe. He did so after an athlete who quit and the parent of another former player alleged the coaching staff was "out of control."

A Pac-12 spokesman Monday said the athletic conference does not have a timeline for completing a review of the WSU football program. Over the weekend, university president Elson Floyd asked for outside help to investigate claims by a player of abusive behavior by the coaching staff. Meanwhile, a sports ethics expert is praising the player for speaking out. Correspondent Tom Banse reports.

WSU Professor Charged With Rape

A Washington State University professor has been arrested and charged with the rape of a teenage girl. Police in Moscow, Idaho, arrested 51-year-old Andrew Appleton Tuesday in a city park.  He thought he was meeting the alleged victim but was met by police instead.
