Washington Unemployment Rate Lowest In Ten Years

Apr 19, 2017

Unemployment in Washington state reached a near-record law last month. New numbers show the state's unemployment rate fell to 4.7 percent in March, just slightly above the national number.

Washington’s Republican candidate for governor said he supports raising the minimum wage in some parts of the state -- but not everywhere. Bill Bryant outlined his position Tuesday in a jobs and economy speech to the Association of Washington Business Policy Summit at the Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum.

The unemployment rate in Washington state held steady at 5.8 percent for the fourth consecutive month in March. But in its latest jobs report out Wednesday, the state employment department reported steady hiring across most of the economy.
