The U.S. Supreme Court issued a surprise decision Monday not to take up several cases on same sex marriage. That effectively makes gay marriage legal in 11 more states for a total of 30. That doesn’t count Idaho. In Idaho earlier this year a district judge ruled the state’s ban on same sex marriage unconstitutional.

The fate of Idaho's voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage is in the hands of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. However, lawyers on both sides predict the case will end up at the U.S. Supreme Court. The opposing attorneys argued elements of the case at a discussion Wednesday organized by the University of Idaho law school.

The issue of whether gay marriage is legal in Oregon may not be settled after all. The U.S. Supreme Court is deciding whether to issue a stay on a federal judge’s recent ruling that overturned Oregon's same-sex marriage ban. Supporters of gay marriage have until Monday to submit briefs in the case.

Same-sex couples are getting married in Oregon now that a federal judge has overturned the state's ban on gay marriage. U.S. District Judge Michael McShane ruled the law violated the federal constitutional rights of gays and lesbians. Correspondent Chris Lehman has this round-up of the day's events.

Voters in Pocatello in southeast Idaho are deciding the fate of the city’s non-discrimination ordinance Tuesday. Pocatello one of seven cities in Idaho that have passed laws aimed at protecting gay, lesbian, bi and trans people. This is the first time one of these measures has been put to a popular vote.

Same-sex couples can now marry legally in Oregon. A federal judge today overturned the state's ban on gay marriage. Weddings began almost immediately.

A federal judge in Oregon is set to rule Monday in a case that could legalize same-sex marriage in the state. U.S. District Judge Michael McShane says he'll issue a ruling at noon. Salem Correspondent Chris Lehman reports.

Same sex marriages will not take place in Idaho Friday morning. Earlier this week a federal judge ruled that Idaho’s ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional and set the ruling to go into effect at 9:00 Friday. But Thursday a higher court surprised many by placing a temporary stay on that. The state had asked the 9th Circuit Court to grant a stay that would last throughout the appeals process.
