Oregon Capitol Christmas Tree Gets A Temporary Time-Out

Crews lower the Oregon state capitol Christmas tree to the floor of the rotunda.

The huge Christmas tree in the rotunda of the Oregon capitol building is back up again. Crews had to un-decorate and lower the 30-foot Noble Fir Tuesday to correct a fairly basic error made when the tree was raised the day before.

Bizarre Incidents At Wash. And Oregon State Capitols

The three-foot Samurai sword recovered from a man arrested near the Oregon Capitol building on Saturday.

The Washington and Oregon state capitols have been the scenes of two bizarre incidents in recent days. Both involved apparently mentally unstable men. One had a gallon of gasoline, the other wielded a samurai sword.

Activists Protest Logging Plan In Oregon Capitol Building

Protestors gather in the Oregon State Capitol building.

A group of environmental activists climbed flagpoles and chained themselves to each other at the Oregon State Capitol Monday. The Earth First! protest was aimed at a plan to increase logging in state forests.

Protesters donned animal masks and howled around the capitol’s echoey rotunda. State police have arrested at least two people.
