High Jump's 'Fosbury Flop' Has Roots In Northwest

A second-time Olympian from Beaverton, Ore., will be the flag bearer for Team USA during Friday's Opening Ceremony at the London Games. U.S. team captains chose fencer Mariel Zagunis for the honor.

Meanwhile, one of the fans cheering the athletes on will be another Northwesterner who revolutionized the high jump.

Oregon Revenue Employees Disciplined Over $2.1 Million Mistake

The Oregon Department of Revenue disciplined four employees over their role in approving a fraudulent tax refund.

The Oregon Department of Revenue has disciplined four employees over their role in approving a fraudulent $2.1 million tax refund. The announcement Wednesday comes a day after the Salem woman who claimed the cash was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison.

Umpire Wilson Johanes began Portland's Palauan softball league as a way to bring the community together.

This weekend, sports fans worldwide turn their attention to London and the start of the Summer Olympics. But there's another international athletic competition here in the Northwest that will draw hundreds of immigrants from the tiny island nation of Palau. It's a softball tournament that's become a major event in the lives of Pacific Islanders living in our region and beyond. Journalist Bill Lascher has our story.

President Barack Obama returned to Oregon yesterday for a brief campaign fundraising swing. When candidate  Obama swept through Oregon in 2008, a huge crowd packed Portland's waterfront for a sunny rally that became one of the memorable images of that year's campaign. Linda Cook revealed herself as the commenter “almostinnocentbystander” on the blog Huckleberries Online.

A lawsuit in north Idaho over anonymous comments posted in an online forum attracted national attention. Now, the commenter at the center of that dispute has unmasked herself. As correspondent Jessica Robinson reports, the case reveals a rift within the north Idaho Republican Party.
