Nothwest Episcopal Churches Court Latinos

In Oregon, the number of Latino Episcopalians has increased more than five-fold over the past decade. Church leaders say the influx is, in part, because the denomination's worship services look and sound familiar to Hispanics raised in the Catholic Church. But as Correspondent Chris Lehman reports, Northwest Episcopal Churches are luring Latinos with a focused marketing campaign.

The 10 o'clock high mass at Saints Peter and Paul Episcopal Church in Portland, Oregon probably sounds a lot like it did when the congregation was founded nearly a century ago.

Oregon's Ashton Eaton Wins Gold In Men's Decathlon

At the London Olympics today, Oregon's own Ashton Eaton placed first in the Men's Decathlon, coming in just shy of the Olympic record. That achievement earned the 24-year-old Eaton not only a gold medal, but also the ceremonial title of "World's Greatest Athlete."

USA-Japan Match Draws Northwest Soccer Fans

Megan Rapinoe, a University of Portland alum, is a member of USA's gold-medal winning women's soccer team.

Scores of people watched at the University of Portland Thursday as the American women’s soccer team defeated Japan for the Olympic gold medal. USA star Megan Rapinoe is a UP graduate. But another player with Northwest ties might’ve been more critical to the win.

Wash. Man Arrested For Threatening Legislative Candidate

Eileen Qutub, a Republican candidate for Washington State Senate, received threatening emails.

A Vancouver, Wash., man has been arrested for allegedly threatening a state Senate candidate. The Clark County sheriff's office took Gary Owen into custody Thursday on charges of sending two threatening emails to Eileen Qutub , a Republican. She described the letters as "vile" and "sexually perverted" and said that Owen threatened to shoot her in the head.

The Willamette Riverkeeper is threatening to sue two pulp mills in the Willamette Valley for allegedly violating the Clean Water Act. OPB’s Vince Patton was paddling with the Riverkeeper director when the water suddenly turned dark brown.
