A federal ruling out Tuesday will prevent further prosecution, for now, against an Idaho woman charged with having an illegal abortion. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals also questioned the constitutionality of the anti-abortion law Jennie Linn McCormack was charged with violating.

Wenatchee Complex Fire Grows, Residents Evacuate

The Wenatchee Complex wildfire is sending a thick blanket of smoke through the Central Washington town. Some residents of Wenatchee and nearby communities have fled their homes. Several fires have combined to make a more than 1,000-acre blaze in the hills near town. A lightning storm Saturday night started more than two dozen fires in the area; many are still burning.

Service Members and employees at Washington’s Joint Base Lewis McChord in Lakewood plan to observe a moment of silence at 5:46 Tuesday morning. That’s the time 11 years ago that the first plane hit the World Trade Center Tower.

Since that time, thousands of Service Members injured during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan live with chronic pain. Until recently, powerful and addictive pain killing drugs were the first line of defense. But the Army is trying to change that by taking a more nuanced and holistic approach.
