Beaver Creek Update: Nearly 10,000 Homes On Evacuation Alert

More resources continue to pour into Idaho’s central mountains to fight a growing wildfire that has now consumed more than 150 square miles, or roughly the size of Detroit.

Wildfires burning in Idaho continue to be the country’s top firefighting priority. There are two massive blazes in that state that continue to threaten communities. Hundreds of people remain evacuated.

Falling Tree Kills Firefighter In Central Oregon

Authorities are identifying the wildland firefighter who was killed Thursday outside the town of Sisters as John Hammack of Central Oregon. Another firefighter was injured in the accident and was taken to a local hospital. 

Northwest firefighters are keeping busy Wednesday attending to roughly a dozen new fires sparked by lightning storms.

Two fires in Central Washington state near the resort town of Wenatchee have merged together. Firefighters are struggling to get the blaze contained.
