Oregon's Olympic Power Couple Loyal To Two Countries

Dozens of Northwest runners, jumpers and throwers will compete for slots on the 2012 U.S. Olympic team starting this weekend. Once again Eugene, Ore., is hosting the U.S. Olympic Trials for track and field. The qualifying action could help determine whether the London Games this summer feature a love story.

Northwest Woman Gets Second Chance At Olympic Boxing

Some of the best sports stories are about second chances, and this week a female boxer from Seattle got her second chance at Olympic gold. The international governing body for boxing awarded Queen Underwood a wild card spot at the first-ever tournament for women’s boxing in the Olympics.

At 69, Northwest Swimmer Says You’re Never Too Old For Gold

Sometimes life hands you disappointment and humiliation. That happened to Suzie Aldrich in a swim meet in college. The Walla Walla native didn’t swim again for nearly 50 years. But in retirement the pool called her back for a re-do. And the results were astonishing.

“They say to invest in gold and I try to do my best," says Suzie Aldrich with a laugh.

"These are all gold medals. I’m Suzie Aldrich and I’m 69 years old. I’m from Walla Walla, Washington and I’m the Eastern Washington, Washington State, Alaska international record holder in backstroke. I’ll see ya at the other end."

Olympic Track And Field Trials In Eugene Expected To Sell Out

PORTLAND – Organizers of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials say they’re on track for a sellout for the eight day event in Eugene. Single day event tickets go on sale Friday morning. University of Oregon associate athletic director Vin Lananna predicts they’ll disappear fast.
