John Kitzhaber

Oregon Governor Appoints New Chief Administrator

Aug 11, 2015

Oregon Governor Kate Brown Tuesday appointed a replacement for a state official who resigned amid the investigation into former governor John Kitzhaber.

Former governor John Kitzhaber directed his office to align some of its interests with the ones fiancée Cylvia Hayes was being paid to advance, according to newly-released emails.

An attorney for Cylvia Hayes told a judge in Salem Friday that the former Oregon first lady is a private citizen and should not be required to hand over her emails to the press.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown's office has released 94,000 emails that were sent to and from former first lady Cylvia Hayes.

The state probe into ethics allegations against former Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber is being halted, at least for now.

The Oregon Department of Administrative Services has requested a criminal investigation over the matter of who leaked some sensitive emails to the media.

Oregon's new governor promised continuity for the most part as she faced the press for the first time since taking the oath of office on Wednesday.

Kate Brown has been sworn in as Oregon's 38th governor.

Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown will be sworn in as governor Wednesday morning.

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber tried to quell rampant speculation about his political future Wednesday, with a statement saying he has no plans to resign.
