"Irretrievably damaged." That's how Washington Republican candidate for governor Rob McKenna describes U.S. Senate candidate and current Congressman Todd Akin. The Missouri Republican is engulfed in a firestorm of criticism after comments he made over the weekend regarding pregnancies resulting from rape.

Reaction has been muted to news that several high-ranking Oregon House Republicans visited a topless bar while on vacation. It does explain why one GOP leader stepped down mysteriously. But as Salem Correspondent Chris Lehman reports, additional implications are not yet clear.

Both the Washington state Republicans and Democrats are gathering at state conventions today.

The Republican state convention is being kept lively by supporters of Ron Paul for president. They seem to make up about one third of the crowd here.

One of Mitt Romney’s sons, Josh, spoke this morning and asked for support for his father.

He was followed by Matt Dubin for the Ron Paul campaign. Dubin said Ron Paul’s supporters are not going to unify behind Romney.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney campaigned before a capacity crowd in Bellevue Friday morning. He urged supporters to take their enthusiasm and use it to help him in the GOP precinct caucuses Saturday.
