Border Patrol to Share Records About Olympic Peninsula Traffic Stops

Civil rights attorneys in Seattle will get reports of all U.S. Border Patrol traffic stops on the Olympic Peninsula for the next 18 months. That’s one of the settlement terms announced today in a lawsuit that alleged agents racially profiled people they pulled over.

U.S. Senate Seeks To Limit Border Patrol Checkpoints, Searches

The U.S. Senate wants to put a stop to Border Patrol checkpoints and warrantless searches taking place far from the border with Canada. The policy change was included in an amendment to the larger immigration overhaul being debated this week. It pleases civil liberties and immigrant advocates, but concerns frontline Border Patrol agents.

Wounded Canadian Border Guard Identified

A Canadian border guard was shot in the neck at the Peach Arch Border Crossing on Tuesday afternoon.

Police in Canada have identified the guard shot at the Peace Arch border crossing north of Blaine, Wash. She is in stable condition as the investigation into the shooting continues.
