Police in British Columbia Tuesday announced that they foiled a terrorist plot to bomb Monday's Canada Day celebration in Victoria.

West Albany High School students are praising one of their classmates as a hero. Truman Templeton sounded the alarm that a fellow student was plotting what officials call "mass murder" at his high school. Seventeen-year-old Grant Acord is being held on $2 million bail after his initial court appearance Tuesday. Salem Correspondent Chris Lehman reports.

An Oregon teenager will be in court Tuesday on charges that he was planning to set off bombs at his high school. The court appearance comes on the same day that students return to West Albany High School for the first time since police uncovered the alleged plot. Correspondent Chris Lehman reports.

The Spokane police chief says there will be an increased police presence at the Bloomsday race this year, following the bombing Monday at the Boston marathon.

A small school district in north Idaho is trying to figure out who's behind 10 bomb threats made since the beginning of the school year. The series of hoaxes has rattled the community, and caused huge disruptions in school.

Most of the threats were made on bathroom stalls. Boundary County schools superintendent Richard Conley says the last four threats alone came in March.

“I've been in education for 41 years and I've never seen this,” he says.

Police believe multiple students are responsible. None of the threats, however, turned up an actual bomb.

Washington state troopers evacuated the state capitol building in Olympia for several hours Monday morning due to a bomb scare. Washington State Patrol spokesman Bob Calkins says several witnesses saw a woman deposit a cloth shopping bag in the capitol rotunda and walk away.
