Northwest Regional News

Northwest Public Radio is a participant and contributor in the Northwest News Network (N3), a collaboration of public radio stations in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Our reporters bring a regional perspective to coverage of Northwest states' government, environment, economy, and other news of widespread interest to residents of the Northwest. Regional news on Northwest Public Radio is a part of Morning Edition every weekday morning, and All Things Considered in the afternoons.

School Closures & Delays

Northwest Public Radio will announce and post any school closures and delays that we are aware of. We do not receive information from all school districts in our listening area, so please check with your local school district if there is inclement weather or any other emergency in your area. We usually receive information from schools in the Puget Sound Educational Service District, Seattle, the Tri-Cities, Yakima, Pendleton, Spokane, the Palouse region, and parts of North Idaho.

If you are a school official and would like to tell us about an emergency school closure or delay anywhere in the Pacific Northwest, please call us at (800) 842-8991 between 6:00 - 8:00 a.m. the morning of the closure, or the previous night before 7:00 p.m. Calling is best, but you may also email Sueann Ramella, our Morning Edition host, at sramella@wsu.edu.
