Here! Now! In the moment! Paddling in the middle of a fast moving stream of news and information. Here & Now is Public Radio’s daily news magazine, bringing you the news that breaks after Morning Edition and before All Things Considered.

Host Robin Young is a whirlwind of energy, with years of experience anchoring programs but also gathering news and producing. Some of the finest reporters in the world also contribute show. David Leonhardt of the New York Times explains the latest from Wall Street, Gail Chaddock of the Christian Science Monitor reports from the halls of Congress, and Borzou Daragahi of the Los Angeles Times or John Burns from the New York Times give a clear-eyed views from whatever war-torn city they are in.

In addition to news, the show fills out everyday with the arts — music, theater, film, food, sports, and interviews with guests from all walks of life.

Dr. Lawrence Pintak, Founding Dean of The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, is an expert on media and journalism in the Middle East. He was on today's edition of WBUR's Here and Now discussing the current state of journalism in Pakistan, where reporters are frequently targets for violence. As Dr. Pintak points out, the danger still doesn't deter many journalists from their mission to independently report on the state of their country, and pass those journalism values on to Pakistani students.
