Wash. Man Arrested For Threatening Legislative Candidate
A Vancouver, Wash., man has been arrested for allegedly threatening a state Senate candidate. The Clark County sheriff's office took Gary Owen into custody Thursday on charges of sending two threatening emails to Eileen Qutub , a Republican. She described the letters as "vile" and "sexually perverted" and said that Owen threatened to shoot her in the head.
Owen is expected to make his first court appearance Friday, and Qutub says she's worried that he'll be released on bail.
Qutub: "My hope is that he's a person that hides behind a computer and is very vocal anonymously behind his computer, but will not carry through on the threat. But I have no way of knowing that."
Qutub is seeking her first term in the Washington legislature. She previously served six years in the Oregon legislature.
