Wash. GOP Standard-Bearer McKenna Launches New Website
Originally published on Mon June 3, 2013 4:36 pm
Former Washington Attorney General and Republican candidate for governor Rob McKenna is back in the public eye. McKenna launched a political website and blog Monday called Smarter Government Washington.
McKenna says he has no plans to run for office, but wants to stay in touch with the many supporters he's gathered over the years.
"It allows us to do more than we can do with Twitter followers or Facebook fans by creating a forum where people can provide content about best practices for making state government smarter and more efficient. And it allows me a forum where I can share my own thoughts on how we can accomplish those goals."
McKenna lost the 2012 race for Washington governor to Democrat Jay Inslee. After the election, McKenna joined a Seattle law firm. He used surplus campaign funds to help start this new non-profit web operation.
In his first blog post, McKenna compliments the Washington State Department of Transportation for its speedy response to the Skagit River I-5 bridge collapse.
