Two high school students who were shot near their school Tuesday in the city of Graham near Tacoma are expected to survive. That's according to officials with the Pierce County Sheriff's office. At least one suspect is in custody.

Spokesman Ed Troyer said investigators believe the shooting happened after a fight near the campus of Graham-Kapowsin High School.

"We got out to the school and found that there were two students who had been shot," said Troyer. "One was in the bathroom near a locker room. One was in a parking lot of the football field."

Troyer said officials believe the shooting took place off school property and the wounded students ran back onto the campus. They were taken to Tacoma General Hospital.

Authorities said they believe the shooters fled the scene after the shooting. But three other nearby schools were locked down as a precaution. Officers are still investigating.
