Seattle Pot Shop May Close Due To Very Low Supply
Seattle's only marijuana shop has hit a bump in the road. Cannabis City owner James Lathrop said he may have to close temporarily because he's run out of pot to sell. He expects his current supply of pot to run out tonight.
Cannabis City opened for business on Tuesday. Lathrop said customers continue to line up out the door although the lines have gotten shorter.
"So I think at a minimum we're going to go ahead and close for now, close for the weekend and we may just go ahead and stay closed until we get our next supply in, which at this point our next truly expected supply is July 25, so that's two weeks from now,” said Lathrop.
Like many retail operators who opened for business in Washington this week Lathrop is figuring out how to deal with demand that far outstrips his available supply.
Lathrop said he and his staff were prepared for a gap in available marijuana and he is considering staying open if only to sell pot paraphernalia like glassware and pipes.
