It's official, Microsoft has a new CEO. The Redmond tech giant says that as of today Satya Nadella is the company's new chief executive.
Lou Gellos is a company spokesman, he says Nadella was a natural choice.
“Well, he led one of the fastest growing and most profitable businesses as the head of company's server and tools business. And he took that position over in 2011, profit increased by 33% in that time period," says Gellos.
Gellos says the company's board conducted an thorough search process before picking Nadella.
“We saw the rumors ... would have been that division's CEO," says Gellos.
In an email to employees this morning Nadella tells staffers that Microsoft is the only ones who can harness the power of software and deliver it through devices and services that truly empower every individual and every organization.
Company founder Bill Gates is also leaving the chairman role for a new role as technology adviser.
