An Oregon State University graduate is among the people who survived the shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night.

Photographer Ashley Barden grew up in Central Oregon and attended OSU. She’s a country music fan. It was her second year going to the Route 91 Harvest festival, a three day concert on the Las Vegas Strip.

“I’m okay. I think I’ll be traumatized forever,” she said. “ It’s something I’ll never forget.”

Barden says she was standing near the edge of the crowd when she heard gunshots.

“So we just ran fast and we scaled fences. We could hear gunshots for probably 20 minutes after. It just kept going on and on and on, and we tried to run far,” she said.

Barden says some people thought the shooter was inside the concert and laid down to hide. She saw people on the ground who were trampled. But she also saw people helping each other climb over fences to escape.

Thousands of people from across the country were at the festival in Las Vegas. Law enforcement has said 58 people were killed. More than 500 are injured.
