Officials say a fortified bunker built by a man suspected of killing his wife and teenage daughter will be destroyed.
Swat teams surrounded the structure located in a remote area on Rattlesnake Ridge in North Bend over the weekend.
They were hoping to arrest Peter Keller who had not been seen since his wife Lynnettee and his teenage daughter Kaylene were found shot to death inside their burning home.
Keller was eventually found dead inside the structure. He had a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Now King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks Spokesman Doug Williams say the bunker needs to be destroyed.
We caught him on his cell phone driving up to the sight.
“ There’s enough ground and material above that will allow it to collapse onto itself if we are able to cut some of those timbers that line the structure underground. It’s deep enough into the hill itself that the weight of the hill itself should be able to take care of the final demolition. “
Williams says the trails in the area are open again. He says there is some concern that people may try to find the bunker. Williams says officials will work quickly to have the structure destroyed and the area surrounding it restored by the weekend.
