New Evacuation Advisories Issued In Washington Wildfires

Aug 5, 2014

Update 8/7/14 - About 25 homes on the Colville Indian Reservation in northeast Washington have been tol to evacuate as the Devil's Elbow Complex burns more than 7,000 acres.

The Wenatchee World reports that evacuation advisories have been issued for the Entiat Valley and Blewett Pass corridor, due to the Duncan fire, which has been burning since late July. There is a Level 1 advisory for the Entiat River Road from "Brief to the end of the county road," and a Level 2 advisory for Hansel Creek Road, Ingalls Creek Road and Pine Ridge Lane.

Wind expected Tuesday could cause the fires to grow quickly.

A Level 3 evacuation order remains in place around the Ellensburg area, where the Snag Canyon fire continues to threaten homes.

According to the Chelan County Fire District, a Level 1 advisory means that residents should be on alert and aware of the growing danger. Level 2 advisories mean that residents should be ready to leave at a moment's notice. A Level 3 evacuation means that residents should leave immediately. Level 3 evacuations are sometimes mandatory.
