King County is partnering with Snohomish County in a joint bid to host Amazon's second headquarters.
Under the plan, the counties are proposing to host the new office space in several different cities, including Bellevue, Everett and on Tulalip tribal lands.
King County Executive Dow Constantine says it's in the region's best interest if it were to attract more high paying jobs.
"The notion that less economic activity, fewer jobs, more poverty is somehow going to benefit us, because housing prices might flatten out, is, I think, self-defeating," Constantine said.
Constantine and Snohomish County Executive Dave Somers said they decided to work together in hopes of making a stronger pitch. Pierce County is expected to make a separate bid. Constantine said that plan would fit well with the King-Snohomish proposal.
Amazon says the new HQ2 would be workspace for about 50,000 people.
