Governor Kitzhaber earlier declared a state of emergency and is mobilizing state and federal resources to combat the wildfires. He says the fires in southern Oregon are a high priority for the state and the federal government.

“We are fully deploying all of the resources we have at our disposal: state, federal, and private aviation assets…It's cost close to eighteen to nineteen million dollars.”

More than two-thousand firefighters from around the country are working on the Douglas Complex fires.  The blazes have scorched more than 34-thousand acres so far with 15 percent of the fire contained.
