Firefighters Work To Defend Homes In Central Wash.
About 900 firefighters are trying to contain the Taylor Bridge fire before it destroys more homes. It’s burning in central Washington near the town of Cle Elum.
We’re just off of Ridge Loop Road in the Cle Elum area. And we’re watching helicopters flying with buckets of water and retardant trying to keep the fire at bay out of these residential areas. There’s homes interspersed every few acres. Tall grass and trees.
Firefighters are doing their best to get the wood piles off the homes and get any kind of flammable material away from those structures so that they have a defensible space that they can defend their homes against fires that flash up.
