Families Who Remain During Fire Try To Stay Optimistic
The Taylor Bridge fire in central Washington is still keeping about 450 people from their homes near the town of Cle Elum. Some residents have remained, despite the heavy smoke from a fire that’s consumed 28,000 acres.
Lee-Ann Bratton lives at the Sunlight Waters Development. She’s trying to stay optimistic about her neighborhood.
“Every house on Sunlight Drive is fine. There’s a bunch of us that are fine," Bratton says. "From what my husband found out, there’s only six or seven homes that we lost. That’s a lot better than what we were figuring.”
In all, the fire has burned more than 60 structures, though no injuries have been reported.
