The Chelan County Emergency Management Office is under scrutiny today for a social media post.
A Facebook post made from an employee’s personal page was accidentally published to the agency’s official page.
The accidental post made disparaging remarks about protesters, making light of those hit by cars while demonstrating. It was shared from a conservative page mocking liberals.
In August, a woman was killed and 19 people injured when a car intentionally plowed into a group demonstrating against white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The department issued an apology, stating; “This post does not reflect the views of the Sheriff’s Office,” calling the meme terrible and inappropriate.
The Chelan County Emergency Management page has about 8,600 likes on its Facebook page and serves over 70,000 people in the county.
