Event Description

Andrew Rally (Sergio Bueno), a Hollywood TV star has just moved to New York to take on the role of a lifetime as Hamlet in a Central Park production. Unlike most young actors, Hamlet is not a dream role for Andrew, and his anxiety runs high as he makes the move. He rents a theatrical apartment once owned by the legendary John Barrymore-who coincidentally made Hamlet one of his iconic roles. This does little to dispel Andrew’s reservations. Joined by his realtor (Cindy Juntunen), his chaste girlfriend (Shairra Rahseparian), and his agent (Lorinda Ferland)-who once had a brief romantic fling with Barrymore-the team convinces a reluctant Andrew to participate in a séance to seek advice from the legend. In a fit of anger Andrew declares “I Hate Hamlet” and in a flash—a ghost appears. Resplendent in full Shakespearean garb the great John Barrymore (Steve Montgomery) makes a grand entrance and it is clear that death has failed to slow down the man—or ghost. He spends the remainder of the show melodramatically bestowing upon Andrew his abundant wisdom of theater and life. It is finally Andrew’s turn to make his mark on theater history—the question is—how successful will he be? This side-splitting comedy features an all-star cast of familiar faces who conjure up laughs with every turn. Opening weekend patrons should dress their premiere best and walk the Red Carpet at the Richland Players. November 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 at 8pm and November 19 & 26 at 2pm
