Description
Wenatchee Valley Erratics Chapter, Ice Age Floods Institute will meet 7:00 P.M. Tuesday June 8, at Wenatchee Valley Museum, 127 South Mission, Wenatchee. Our speaker is Ron Hall, who will present “J. Harlan Bretz in Google Earth.” Ron, a designer, builder, modeler, turf specialist, and web technologist is a member of the Cheney-Spokane chapter of the IAFI. But his passion is Google Earth. He has been recognized by Google for his use of Google Earth and Google’s “SketchUp” (free 3D modeling software) to help raise awareness and promote public education of various regional issues and topics. This work includes a piece for the IAFI on the story of the Ice Age Floods and the institute’s work. Another is a Google Earth companion piece on John Soennichsen’s book “Bretz’s Flood” (our December 2008 speaker), about J Harlen Bretz, the geologist known for his research that led to acceptance of the Glacial Lake Missoula Floods. Ron intends this work to help generate interest in the Ice Age Floods National Geologic Trail. The program is free & open to the public.
